Approach
Using a Project-Based Learning (PBL) teaching approach Future Nation College ensures its courses are student-centered and inquiry-based to encourages active learning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our passionate and dedicated facilitators are experienced PBL practitioners who are committed to nurturing each student’s intellectual and personal growth.
Our college offers a range of programmes designed to meet the demands of a dynamic teaching and learning environment and to provide students with a strong foundation for their future careers. Some of our current offerings include short courses in the following areas:
- Early Childhood Development for ECD Practitioners and Foundation Phase teachers
- Coding and Robotics for Foundation, Intermediate and Senior Phases teachers
- Project-Based Learning for all levels of teachers
What is PBL?
PBL is a method of teaching in which students gain knowledge, skills and competencies by working on various projects where they are to question, investigate, research and/or design and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem and/or challenge.
This teaching and learning approach is proven to:
- Improve learning and retention
- Build 21st-century skills such as critical and creative thinking, collaboration, problem solving and effective communication which are essential skills for teachers to have in the classroom
- Provide opportunities for teachers to use technology in meaningful ways
- Connects concepts with real world and encourages self-exploration and development of solutions relating to real life problems
