Early Childhood Development (ECD) Courses
Exciting changes are on the horizon for South Africa’s Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) sector, with the transfer of responsibility from the Department of Social Development to the esteemed Department of Basic Education. As this transition unfolds, there is an urgent need for current ECD practitioners to enhance their skills and for aspiring practitioners to acquire top-tier training, ensuring they are fully prepared to thrive in this essential teaching and learning environment.
At Future Nation College, we recognise the importance of quality early childhood education and the indispensable role that well-trained ECD practitioners and teachers play in shaping young minds. That’s why we offer exceptional project-based ECD training programmes that not only enhance teachers’ skills but also provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points through the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
FNC’s comprehensive ECD practitioner training is built on three approaches designed to address the diverse needs of South Africa’s ECCE practitioners:
- FNC Early Childhood Caregiver Skills Programme is tailored for existing ECCE practitioners who lack formal teaching qualifications. This programme (which has an NQF level 1) equips practitioners with foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective ECCE teaching, laying the groundwork for high-quality early childhood education.
- FNC ECD Qualification Programme is aimed at developing ECCE practitioners into professionally competent educators. Through this programme (which has an NQF level 4), practitioners gain the knowledge, skills and ethical grounding required to facilitate early care and learning in diverse early childhood contexts.
- 16 FNC SACE-Endorsed ECD Short Courses offers ECCE practitioners the opportunity to earn continuing professional development (CPD) points while staying updated on new teaching methods, technologies and research findings. This enables practitioners to continually improve their teaching practices, better meet the needs of their learners and contribute to the overall advancement of early childhood education in South Africa.
